The first accelerator was the LEP. 100 m downstairs and the evelator was out of order. We really remembered it the next days ... But the tunnel is really great ...
... the tunnel, Delphi...
... and this electromobiles they have there. We tried to organize a race in the LEP-tunnel, but we couldn't enter on weekend. The door was closed... We had several visits at CERN where we found interesting things:
A cross of two beamlines (But where was the traffic light?)
A visit to LINAC III
Radiation safty is obvisously different defined at CERN (we entered this area without warnings) We also visited the ESRF in Grenoble ...
... and the PSI:
There we saw a synchrotron radiation source, while they were building it. It was very interesting to see this.
And here Steffi thought: Which quad fits the best way into my appartement in Paris? Unfortunally I have no picture of the accelerator with the biggest beam-power in the world. But it's very difficult to take a photo of a cyclotr...chr... chr... chr... |
